Calligraphy is, by any definition, “beautiful writing” — handwritten, elegant, stylized lettering. The calligrapher embraces both the beauty and creativity of an artist and the experience and dedication of a true craftsman.
While calligraphy has enjoyed thousands of years of appreciation and enthusiasm in the East, Western society is seeing a revival, due in no small part to the Arts and Crafts movement of the 1880’s.
Today’s calligrapher flourishes amid the technology and hectic pace of the modern world. From abstract decorations to literary pieces to wedding invitations, the art form still attracts those who would try their hand at the inkwell.
