Calling All Cards
With Carol Pallesen
Carol Pallensen has been teaching calligraphy and related book arts classes for more than 25 years. She loves to share her knowledge and believes that teaching is the most important thing she does. Her studio, the Silent Hand Scriptorium, is the site of her Reno, Nevada classes, as well as the working space for commissions and her artist books.
Carol also conducts workshops around the world, and has taught at 20 international calligraphy conferences. She has been honored with the inclusion of her work in several publications (Calligraphy in Print, Lettering Arts in the 80s, Cover to Cover, Tabellae Ansatae, Handcrafted Cards and many of the Calligraphers Engagement calendars) and in exhibitions in Washington, D.C. at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, in Salzburg, Austria at the Berchtold Villa Gallery, and many exhibits nationally.
In June 1996, the Gulfcoast Calligraphy Guild welcomed Carol to Pensacola to present her Gold, Glitter & Greeting Cards workshop; we are very pleased to announce that Carol will be returning in March 2012 to teach again! “In my (Carol) many card workshops, there’s a little progression over the years – 1st was Gold, Glitter & Greeting Cards, then Art Cards, then Avant Cards, and this is really the 4th – all have many different structures and are a lot of fun. Calling All Cards is my newest, born in 2010!”
Calling All Cards will be an exciting two-day workshop creating a vast variety cards that can be used with calligraphic lettering to create wonderful greetings and gifts. Projects will feature concertina folds-into-hearts, unique boxes, exciting decorated papers, and more.
